Nick Catron Duke – Obituary

NickNick Catron Duke, 71, died Feb. 11, 2014, after a courageous battle with melanoma.
He was born in Ponca City, Okla., and has been a resident of Hixson since 1980.
He served 7 years in the Navy Submarine Service earning his dolphins. He retired from TVA after 29 years, and then worked as a contractor for FEMA for 10 years. He was the former Softball President of the Middle Valley Youth Association. He had a passion for golf and Alabama college football.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Gail Davis Catron, and their daughter, Laura Catron Hobart (Greg); son, Scott Catron (Julie), from Atlanta; and daughter, Lisha Catron Osterhout (Will); grandson, Liam, from Hawaii; his brothers, Mike Catron (Mollie), and Jeff Duke (Cristina), of Texas, and sister, Cheryl Robbins (George), of Alabama.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at Hamilton Funeral Home, Hixson, Tenn. Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m.
Nick’s family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice of Chattanooga for their compassionate care and concern. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Amedisys Hospice of Chattanooga, Tenn.
