TUPELO – The Natchez Trace Parkway invites children and their families to come enjoy the Read with a Ranger program at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at the Parkway Visitor Center. This month’s featured story is “The Lorax” by Dr. Seuss.  Follow the tale of the Lorax as he tries to save the environment from the Once-ler who doesn’t realize the extent of the damage he is inflicting.  Find out if the Lorax is able to save the Truffula Trees, Brown Bar-ba-loots, Humming-fish, and Swomee-Swans.  Visitors will be introduced to the idea of conservation with a fun activity and learn how they can reduce the negative effects of resource use in their own communities.

Read with a Ranger is a 45-minute program that is most appropriate for ages six and under, but everyone is welcome.  Participants will listen to a story, join in a fun activity, and go on an optional and easy half-mile hike.  Read with a Ranger features a new story on the second Saturday of the month. To confirm the time and program scheduled each month, please visit our website calendar at www.nps.gov/natr/planyourvisit/calendar.htm.
