Nancy Earle Lovelace Gooch of Atlanta, Georgia passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren. She was 75 years old. She was born and raised in Florence, Alabama, the daughter of the late Earl Lovelace and Pauline Roberts Lovelace. She was the older sister of Paul Lovelace, of Florence.
A celebration of life will be held on March 16, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. and hosted by Pleasant Hill Church, 2705 County Road 222, Florence, Alabama. The celebration will begin in the Sanctuary and move to the Fellowship Center for one of Nancy’s favorite things – a potluck with many delicious dishes.
Nancy was a graduate of Central High School and she remained lifelong friends with many. She was as beautiful on the inside as she was on outside, crowned in her senior year as Central’s Homecoming Queen. You could find her enjoying one of Florence’s wonderful local restaurants with the “Lunch Bunch” reminiscing and carrying on with lots of laughter. Her loving kindness was shared with the Florence community readily and she was known for never being able to go out and about in town without running into someone she knew or someone she was someway related to – always ready to have a not-so-quick chat!
Nancy leaves behind her beloved son, Scott Gooch and cherished daughter, Amanda Gooch Hammett, as well as her loving daughter-in-law, Stephanie and son-in-law, Gene. One of her greatest joys in life was being the BEST Oomie to her four adoring grandchildren – granddaughters, Rachel (22), Emma (19), Hayden (15), and grandson, Bennett (16). All reside in the Atlanta, Georgia area. Her love for her family extended well beyond her children and grandchildren to her two nieces, Robin and Anna, and many cousins that were more like brothers, sisters, and bonus children – JR and the late Sandra Sharp and their children Robbie, Tammy, Kristi, and David; the Roberts families; the Lovelace families; and many, many more across the country that she located and connected with through her genealogy research.
She was a faithful caretaker to many furry friends in her lifetime. She was never known to go too long without one or more animals in her home, especially when word got out in the Lovelace community that Nancy was without a four-legged companion. There are literally hundreds of stories about her infamous cats and dogs. She is survived by her beautiful Princess Pillow who misses her dearly. Pillow remained by her side and is now in the care of close friends and family.
