Nancy Carolyn Isom Switzer, 86, of Corinth, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2026, at Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo, Mississippi.Nancy was born to Burt Isom and Mildred Burns Isom. She was one of the kindest and strongest women you could ever know, with a heart that always had room for one more. Her love for the Lord was the foundation of her life, and she showed that love in the way she cared for others and made everyone she met feel like family.
Nancy was a longtime faithful member of Foote Street Church of Christ. Caring for people came naturally to her. Over the years, she cared for many children through her in-home daycare, and countless families were blessed to have her help raise and love their children. For Nancy, they were never simply children she kept. They became part of the great big circle of people she loved.
She was the toughest lady we have ever known, yet she carried a tenderness and kindness that touched so many lives. Her four daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were incredibly blessed to call her theirs.
Nancy was widowed in 1991 and never remarried. She always told us there would never be another Bill Madden. That kind of love stayed with her for the rest of her life.
She never picked favorites, of course, but if she had, there’s a pretty good chance her grandson and best friend, Kelby, would have had the title.
Nancy is survived by her four daughters, Kim Smotherman (Robert), Stacy Jones (Randy), Sally Finney (Ken), and Carrie Walker (Ron); her sister, Janis Carson; and her grandchildren, Joseph Smotherman, Denise Smotherman, Kelyn Dodd (John David), Kate Sellers (Alex), Chandler Dabbs (Taylor), Clay Finney (Maddie), Kelby Corbin, Cara Kate Corbin, Carl Madden Walker, Autumn King (Alex), and Zack Walker (Brooke). She is also survived by her great-grandchildren and extended family members and friends who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Madden Switzer; her parents, Burt Isom and Mildred Burns Isom; and her brother, Paul Isom.
Nancy leaves behind a beautiful legacy of faith, family, kindness, laughter, strength, and a love that will live on for generations. The lives she touched are too numerous to count, and the family she created extends far beyond blood.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be 2:00 pm Wednesday at Memorial Funeral Home with Terry Smith officiating. Burial will follow in in the City Cemetery.
Family and Friends Gathering will be Wednesday from 12:00 to service time.
