Graveside service for Myrtle Alred Spillers, age 98, of Vestavia Hills will be Sunday, September 21, 2014, at 1:30 p.m. at Moulton Memory Garden. Rod Morgan will be officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Spillers, who passed away September 19, 2014, at South Haven Health and Rehab in Birmingham was born February 12, 1916, in Lawrence County to Charles Alred and Savanah Johnson Alred. She was retired from Lawrence County Hospital as a nurse. Myrtle was the oldest member of Moulton United Methodist Church and was also a member of the Eastern Start since the 1960’s. She loved to garden and grow irises, peonies and roses. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bonnie Dale “BD” Spillers; her parents; granddaughter, Linda Diane Spillers; son-in-law, Charles Grant; five brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include a son, Don Spillers of Moulton; daughter, Barbara Grant of Vestavia Hills; granddaughters, Elizabeth Ann Spillers, Charlotte Grant; grandsons, Thomas Grant, Charles James Grant; and great-grandson, Jeffrey Spillers.
Pallbearers will be Billy Dutton, Tim Littrell, Jimmy Waldrop, Robert Norwood and Olvin Howard.
