Myrtis Lee Nichols Haynes, 98, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2016, at NMMC in Tupelo. She was born October 21, 1917 to the late W.C. (Cliff) Nichols and the late Willie Ethel Roper Nichols. She was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Myrtis was a long-time and faithful member of Centerville Baptist Church and loved her church family as well as her pastor, Bro. Greg Jones. Myrtis grew up in Mantachie, later residing in Amory and Fulton, as well as Osceola, AR. She took care of all those she met and loved to talk, especially over a cup of coffee. She was a first-rate cook and gardener, spending an almost equal number of hours between kitchen and her yard at her home in Fulton. She worked as a beautician for many years and never went out without having her own hair done and looking just so. Myrtis, Myrt, or Mema, will be missed by many as she is residing now with her Lord and Savior.
A celebration of her life will be 11:00 am on Monday, April 11, 2016 at Senter Funeral Home with Bro. Greg Jones officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until service time on Monday at Senter Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Survivors include her Granddaughter, Kathy Lynn (Dewayne) Parker; Great-granddaughter, Lauren Ruth Parker; Great-grandson, Michael Aden Parker; Daughter-in-law, Patsy Ruth Barber all of Clinton, MS; Brother, Olen Nichols of Mantachie; Sisters: Clytee Barber of Tupelo, Winnie Minga of Amory, Corrine (Bob) Bolton of Southaven, and Geraldine Session of Mantachie.
Preceded in death by her parents, Husband, Bernard Barber, Husband, Marvin Haynes, Sons: Bernard Tryce Barber, and Phil Barber, Brothers: Loyd Nichols, Lowell Nichols, Cratus Nichols; Sister, Lucille Barber, step-sons: Huey Haynes and Michael Haynes.
