Myra Jeanette Barnes Wilkinson, age 72, of Dora, passed away at her home Thursday, January 27, 2022. She was a strong and faithful Christian who loved the Lord. She was a wonderful wife, Momma, Nanny, daughter, sister, friend, and so much more. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren more than anything. She was the rock of their family and built a strong foundation for all of them to grow from. She has a smile that would light up a room and a giggle that was infectious to everyone around. She was the most kind, honest, hard-working, determined, and precious woman of God. She was a member of Sumiton First Assembly of God. She loved her church and church family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Charles Irvin Wilkinson, Sr.; son, Larry David Wilkinson, parents, Arvil Lee Barnes and Velma Mattie Glover; brothers, Richard Barnes (Donna), Rayburn Barnes, James Barnes (Jimmie Grace), Kenneth Barnes; sisters, Deloris Smith (Edward), and Patricia “Trishy” Smith (Charles); and several other family members and dear friends.
She is survived by her children, Charles “Buddy” I. Wilkinson, Jr. (Rosemary), Kimberly Joy Wyatt (Paul), and Kenneth Wayne Wilkinson (Lorri); grandchildren, Kari Jeanette Adams (her fiancé, Billy), Michelle Lee Wilkinson, Breckton Nathaniel Wilkinson, Savannah Grace Wilkinson, David Michael Wyatt, and Sarah Beth Wilkinson; great grandchildren, Tucker McCae Stanley and Peighton Jeanette Stanley; brother, Harvey Eugene Barnes (Lou), and several nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
Family will receive friends Sunday, January 30, 2022, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Sumiton First Assembly of God. Funeral service will be Monday, January 31, 2022, at 11:00 am at the church. Interment will follow at Bryan Cemetery. Rev. Jack Thorn and Kenneth Wilkinson will officiate.
The family would like to express their most sincere gratitude to the workers at Affinity Hospice, and a big thank you to Stephanie Hollis Davenport for all your hard work and love you have shown for her and the family.
