Mr. Joe Terry “Hillbilly” Thompson, age 79, passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022 in Nashville. He was born December 6, 1942 in Henderson County to the late Anderson Terry Thompson and Raymell Taylor Thompson. He was a self-employed truck driver and loved classic cars and tractors. He was a member of Ebenezer Lodge 441 Masonic Lodge for 53 years. A member of Union Hill Baptist Church since 1967, he was a devout Christian and had served as a deacon since 1974. Mr. Thompson loved his family and most enjoyed hunting and fishing with his boys. He was the rock of his family and will be dearly missed.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Thompson Perry. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mrs. Joyce Western Thompson; his two sons, Tony Thompson (Donna) and Kenny Thompson (Melinda); his daughter, Bridget Coffman (Eric McAdams); his brother, Jimmy Thompson (Sue); his sister, Sandra Yeiser; eight grandchildren, Samantha Adams (Brandon), Morgan Beacham (Clint), Michaela Walters (Michael), Spencer Thompson, Ali Thompson, Drake Thompson, Sydney Coffman, and Anderson Ridge Thompson; and five great grandchildren, Izzie Adams, Ezra Adams, Sutton Adams, Rowan “Rosie” Walters, and Cal Beacham (his little buddy).
The family will receive friends on Saturday, 11 AM – 9 PM at Pafford Funeral Home in Scotts Hill and on Sunday, 10 AM – 2 PM at Union Hill Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 2 PM at Union Hill Baptist Church with interment to follow in Union Hill Baptist Cemetery.
