Funeral for Myles B. Spurlock, 76, of Decatur will be Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015 at 2 p.m. Parkway Funeral Home with Joe Holmes officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Mr. Spurlock died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015, at his residence. He was born June 6, 1939, in Kentucky to Herbert Spurlock and Lela May Spurlock. He was a member of Vestavia Hills Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army and was recognized as soldier of the month. Mr. Spurlock was a very patriotic man and loved his country. He enjoyed toy trains, turkey hunting, tractors and working on the farm. He was a dual member of Nunn Oden and Vinemont Masonic Lodges and Vinemont Order of the Eastern Star. He was Past Grand Chaplain in 2011-2012 for the Alabama Grand Chapter Order of The Eastern Star. He was retired from Joe Wheeler EMC as a supervisor. He was preceded in death by one brother, Freddie Spurlock; and his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Lila Shaneyfelt Spurlock; two daughters, Alwina S. Moricle (Madhav) and Nivada Spurlock (Jami); sister-in-law, Ruth Spurlock; several nieces and nephews; embraced grandchildren, Hanish and Danish Edupuganti.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Thorne, Charles Driver, Marko Sims, Henry Sims, Bob Eads and Ricky Soloman.
Honorary pallbearers will be all Master Masons, members of the Order of the Eastern Star, Walter Hargett, Ray Hayes, Arvin Briscoe, Patrick Turner and Sri Edupuganti.
