MUSCLE SHOALS-The Muscle Shoals High School wrestling team attending the James Clemons Invitational on Saturday, January 2013. Several area teams were in attendance including two Tennessee teams. The Trojans took on James Clemens HS in their first dual of the day. Several Trojans secured pinfalls for the team including 120lb Brennen Shankles (2:57), 126 lb Joseph Green (:56), and 195lb Marlon Whiteside (1:38). 160lb Braden Barnes won by decision 9-3, while Arick Shankles (113), Greyson Beaver (132) received forfeits.
The second dual of the day for the Trojans was against Tennessee powerhouse Hixon 
High School. Pinfalls were recorded by A. Shankles (:23), B. Shankles (2:49), and 152lb James Green (3:51). Beaver (7-4) and Barnes (9-2) won by decision. Next, the team faced 7A opponent Buckhorn High School. Several wrestlers achieved pinfalls including: A. Shankles (1:31), B. Shankles (5:42), Joseph Green (:48), and Beaver (2:00). James Green secured a victory with a 8-6 decision and Jacobi Gilchrist (106lb) received a forfeit.
Muscle Shoals then faced local rivals Deshler HS. Pinfalls were recorded by A. Shankles (:35), B. Shankles (:47), Beaver (3:53), and Whiteside (1:03). James Green picked up a major decision with a 9-0 win and Barnes secured a win with his 2-1 decision. The final dual of the weekend was against East Limestone High School. Forfiet points were awarded to B. Shankles, J. Green, 145 lb Jake Armstrong, Barnes, 170lb Dakota Rosson, and 182lb Elijah Morrow. A. Shankles(2:30), 152lb Daniel Berry (1:25 and 220lb Austin Loredo (1:30) each earned a pinfall. Beaver gained a major decision with a 10-1 victory.
The Muscle Shoals Trojans will travel to the Arab Invitation this weekend, which will serve as a preview of several potential state matchups.
