Mrs Wanda LaGora Engle – Obituary

Mrs Wanda LaGora Engle was born April 23, 1921 in Middletown, OH the daughter of the late Cecil Daniel and Stella Mae Richardson Karshner.

She was united in marriage to Jean P. Engle in 1939. Mr. Engle preceded her in death in 1970. Mrs. Engle worked as a clerk and mail carrier for the United States Post Office before she retired. Mrs. Engle also worked as a welder on aircraft during WWII. She was a member of the First Church of God in Savannah, TN and in earlier years she ministered in numerous coal mining communities all throughout the Appellation Mountains in TN. and KY. as a missionary.
Some of her favorite pastimes were playing soft-ball and had gone to the Ladies World Series seven times during the late 1930’s and early 1940’s, she was quite an athlete. She also enjoyed collecting and studying rocks and was known as an amateur geologist.

Mrs. Engle departed this life on October 15, 2013 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 92 Years, 5 Months, 22 Days.

She is survived by her son, Jon K. Engle and wife Karen of Adamsville, TN; three grandchildren, Cheri Weitkamp and husband Roger of London England, Kim Boleyn and husband Johnny of Cleveland, TN, Tony Engle and wife Lanita of Murfreesboro, TN; four great grandchildren, Jake Weitkamp, and Jerrod Weitkamp of London England, Jayden Boleyn, and Kaylee Boleyn both of Cleveland, TN; a brother, Daniel Karshner and wife Elizabeth of Sardinia, OH; and a host of extended family and friends.
