Patterson, 83, passed away on February 20, 2026. Born January 3, 1943, she lived a life marked by creativity, service, and unwavering devotion to her family.
Monzta had a deep love and dedication for her family and was the strength that held them all together. She made sure her home was filled with warmth, love, and home-cooked meals, creating a place where everyone felt cared for and welcomed.She lovingly cared for her husband throughout their life together.
She was a longtime volunteer at the Art on the Lake Arts and Crafts Festival and shared her artistic talents by painting murals at the school and her church. She also served her church in many volunteer roles, especially enjoying time spent with children, and with the respite program at Guntersville First United Methodist.
She retired from the Guntersville City Board of Education, where she began as an elementary school aide and later served as a school secretary, secretary to the superintendent, and federal programs bookkeeper.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry and Vera Carter, and her husband, Bobby Joe Patterson.
She is survived by her daughter, Kristi Shelton (Gary) of Guntersville; her son, Mark Patterson of Moody; her grandson, Dylan Crowe (Tate); her great-grandchildren, Charlie and Emmaline Crowe; her brother, Lyndall Carter (Vivian); her sisters, Jimmie Bradford (Dan) and Sue Henderson (Bo); and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Monzta will be remembered for her servant’s heart, her artistic spirit, and the steadfast love that defined her life.
