Lawrence County Deputies Involved In Shooting Results In One Death

LAWRENCE COUNTY-On February 21st, 2026, the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office responded to a suicidal person with a gun in Lawrence County.
When Deputies arrived, they approached a manufactured home whereas a person could be seen sitting in a chair through a open door. Deputies began to talk to a person when he produced a gun and pointed it at the Deputies.
Mr. Patrick Rowe, was shot multiple times after he refused to drop the weapon. Mr. Rowe age 54 was treated at the scene and transported to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The Alabama Department of Forensic Science will conduct an autopsy.
Sheriff Sanders requested ALEA conduct the investigation which is standard procedure.
Sheriff Sanders says “We have an incredible group of men and women that serve Lawrence County and put themselves in harms way. I stand by my Deputies. Any threat to their safety will be meet in kind. Please keep my Deputies, the Deputies family and the families of those affected by this in your thoughts and prayers.”
