Monte Evelyn Walker Graham, age 96, passed away on Sunday at her daughter’s home.

Monte was a faithful Christian who was clearly devoted to her Lord Jesus, her church, and her family. She was a kindhearted person who was quick to help anyone who needed a hand, especially her children and grandchildren. Monte had a quick wit and a ready laugh that made her a favorite with her friends and family. Monte’s gracious hospitality at family dinners and reunions made everyone feel warm and welcome.

Monte was a skilled musician who taught piano lessons in her home. She played piano for the children’s choirs at church and for the Opportunity Center music day each week. She sang in her church choir for many years. During her youth Monte and her friend Catherine sang many duets together for church and funeral services.

Monte was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Graham, and daughters, Margie Garrett and Amy Graham, and grandson, Graham Garrett. She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Grooms; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Monte’s life will be honored at a funeral service on Friday morning, June 25, at 11 in the Laughlin Service Funeral Home Chapel. She will be interred at Maple Hill Cemetery.
