Mr. Michael Keith Phillips, age 53, of Sipsey passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at VA Hospital in Birmingham. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Bell Sumiton Chapel with cremation to follow. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Bell Funeral Home Sumiton has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Mr. Phillips made the A-B Honor Roll from K-12, and he graduated at the top of his class. He never missed a day of school and had perfect attendance. He enlisted in the Marine Corp in 1988 and served in Desert Storm. He was honorably discharged in 1992. He was passionate about his family, animals and always helping others.
He is preceded in death by his father, Parnell “Gayle” Phillips; mother, Betty Joyce Phillips; grandparents, George and Mardie Phillips; grandfather, Warren Owens; aunt, Dianne Arnold; uncles, Roger Phillips, Larry Phillips, James Wilson and Grady Wilson; and cousins, Joshua Gayle Phillips, Rachael Phillips and Pam Owens Jett.
He is survived by his son, Brock Morrow; grandmother, Doris Owens; sister, Lisa Leighton (Kenny); nieces, Katelyn Marie Dickerson, Katherine Gail Leighton and Holly Beard; nephew, Kacy Farley; uncles, Randy Phillips (Debbie) and Kenneth Owens (Freda); aunts, Susan Morton, Ginnie Chairo and Georgia Soliday (Jerry); and a host of cousins, great cousins and a couple of great great cousins whom he loved dearly.
