Michael Berry Travis, 70, of Toney, Alabama, passed away on December 28, 2024, at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, Alabama. He was born on March 24, 1954, in Huntsville, Alabama, to the late Emory and Annie Whitt Travis.
Michael was known for his humor, kindness, and unwavering dedication to his family and friends. A hardworking man, he loved deeply and lived fully. He enjoyed traveling and spent time in the Marshall Islands, where he contributed to building hospitals on military bases. Later in life, he returned to Alabama, where he found spiritual peace and devoted his remaining years to his faith, family, and beloved wife, Deborah.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah Hallmark Travis; daughters, Elizabeth (Chris) Perkins and Sonia Lola Jean Buckner; grandchildren, Thomas Michael Jacob Bearden, Grover Nathaniel Barnett, and Stephen Dale Barnett; and sister, Juanita Travis.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Emory and Annie Travis.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 3, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Hazel Green Funeral Home, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 PM.
