With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Memorie L. Elliott of Huntsville, AL, who passed away on October 31, 2022, at the age of 94. She was predeceased by her husband, E. Ray Elliott and her parents, Herchell and Macon Lovell.
She is survived by her son, Stephen (Deborah); daughter, Melva Strang-Foster; granddaughters, Emmily Elliott and Allison Strang Jones (Damon); and her great-granddaughters, Macon and Halyn Jones.
Prior to graduating from University of Alabama Huntsville in 1968, Memorie taught kindergarten at Highlands and Weatherly Heights Baptist Churches. Upon earning her degree, she taught English at Lee High School. Then, upon completion of her master’s degree, she became one of the first school psychometrists in the Huntsville Public School system and continued in that position until she retired. She was an active member at Weatherly Heights Baptist Church since 1973 until illness robbed her of this joy in 2018. Prior to this, she attended Southside Baptist, Highlands Baptist, and Hillwood Baptist churches in Huntsville.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with the funeral service at 12:00 PM at the Weatherly Heights Baptist Church, 1306 Cannstatt Dr SE, Huntsville, AL 35803.
