Melvyn Ray Myhan, age 80, of Decatur passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at his residence. A Memorial Service will be Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Bob Gates officiating. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 11:30 AM until the start of service.
Mr. Myhan was born in Colbert County, Alabama on March 28, 1944 to Luther and Mildred (Fore) Myhan. He was a Conductor by trade for the Railroad Industry, and retired after 36 years at Southern Railroad.
Mr. Myhan found joy in gardening and working in his yard; but his greatest joy was his family. Melvyn was a loving husband, father, step-father, and grandfather. His kindness and love will endure in the hearts of all who knew him.
Mr. Myhan was preceded in death by his son, Shannon Myhan; parents, Luther and Mildred; brother, Maurice Myhan; and sister, Margorie Briggs.
Mr. Myhan is survived by his wife, Dorothy Myhan; son, Wade (Molly) Myhan; step-son, Jathan Hunter Harris; step-daughter, Teresa Ann Gates (Shannon); grandchildren, Mason and Sophie Myhan; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Although we mourn his passing, we take comfort in knowing that he has been reunited with his loved ones in the embrace of eternal peace.
