Melvin Robert “Bobby” Philpot, age 69 of Decherd, passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at St Thomas Rutherford Medical Center in Murfreesboro. He was born in Lincoln County on July10, 1952 to the late Thomas Melvin and Janie Annie (Nelson) Philpot. He was employed at SAS Manufacturing for over twenty years and later retired from Wal-Mart. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping, as well as going for a drive. But most of all, he loved spending time with his beloved family. Bobby was a member of Belvidere Baptist Church. He will be remembered for his gentle and loving personality as he never met a stranger, but also for the strength he always exhibited to family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jurline Philpot. He is survived by his children, Tommy (Kim) Philpot of Decherd, Tony (Tabitha) Philpot of Flintville, Penny Hodges of Decherd, and Christopher (Amber) Hall of Decherd; grandchildren, Courtney Gilliam, Shelby Garner, Dustin Philpot, Tyler Philpot, Madison Philpot, Amber Hodges, Martin Hodges, Jessie Hodges, Amelia Hall, Brayden Hall, Raelee Hall, Adaya Hall, Bryce Hall, and Adriana Hall; eleven great-grandchildren; siblings, Mike (Dorothy) Philpot of Decherd, Susie (Andy) Wilson of Mississippi, Ricky Philpot of Winchester, Roger Philpot of Winchester, Kenny Philpot of Winchester, and Emma Jean (Stan) Rollins of Ft Walton; and four-legged best friend, Bucky the Rat. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Monday, January 10, 2022 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, January 11, 2022in the Moore-Cortner Chapel.
