Dalton Boyd Gunter (69) was born November 8, 1952, in Lakeland, FL.

He passed away peacefully on January 7, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Dalton is survived by his wife, Bettie Reeves Gunter, sons Chris Gunter (Anna), Lakeland, FL, Jerad (Mandy) Gunter, Orlando, FL, Tommy (Hillary) Robinson, Fayetteville, TN, daughters Erica (Michael) Dockins, Lakeland, FL and Meredith (Scott) Taylor, Dade City, FL. Granddaughters MaKinlei Gunter, Lakeland, FL, Lyndsey, Emily, Ryleigh Robinson, Fayetteville, TN, Sedrick Banks Lakeland, FL, and Dominic and Lucas Gunter, Orlando, FL, 2 great-grandsons Kingston and Dalani of FL, as well as several other extended family members, nieces, nephews and in-laws.  Dalton was preceded in death by his parents, Jewel Boyd (J.B.) and Nellie Jeanette Gunter, and brother Dean Gunter, all of Lakeland, FL.

Dalton worked for Publix in Lakeland, FL and retired as a truck driver. He also worked in the family bait business, Gunter’s Live Bait in Lakeland for many years. Dalton moved to Tennessee from Florida nearly 30 years ago and owned a furniture store in Park City, TN and was an entrepreneur in sales until he retired. Dalton was always an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting often during his retirement that was cut short due to a brief illness with Covid Pneumonia. Dalton loved his family dearly. He was a great man; he was very witty and comical. He was a great storyteller and always fun to be around. He loved all people and telling the best fish tales.

The family will host a celebration of life on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at their home in Fayetteville out back by the lake, followed by another in Lakeland at Lake Parker Park Sunday, January 16. Specific details to be shared on Facebook (Bettie Reeves Gunter’s page).
