Melvin Oscar White – Obituary

Melvin Oscar White was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on December 17, 1948, the son of the late Oscar Melvin and Dovie Louise Higgins White. On March 31, 1975, he was united in marriage to Rebecca Catherine Kirkpatrick, who preceded him in death on October 13, 2007. Mr. White departed this life on April 19, 2018, at the age of 69 years, 4 months, and 2 days.

Mr. White was a member of Barnhill United Methodist Church. He lived in Hardin County, Tennessee most of his life. Mr. White enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, playing dominoes at the Senior Citizen Center, and watching John Wayne movies.

Mr. White is survived by his daughter, Robin White Milhorn and husband Jamie of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; sisters, Betty Garner of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Frances Wiggington and husband Danny of Crossroads, Misssissippi, Kathy Broyles and husband Steve of Savannah, Tennessee; Beauton Sharp and husband Tommy of Savannah, Tennessee; and grandchildren, Hannah Kathryn Milhorn and Connor Jamison Milhorn.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. White was preceded in death by his brother, Larry White and sister, Willadean Smith.

To honor Melvin’s wishes, Graveside Services will be held at Savannah Cemetery on April 22, 2018 at 4:00 PM, with Justin Warren officiating.
