Melvin Douglas Pittman – Obituary

MelvinMelvin Douglas Pittman, 74 of Elkmont, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 16, 2013, at Huntsville Hospital.
Born Monday, September 26, 1938 in Limestone County, Alabama, he was the son of the late George Braxton Pittman and the late Trudell Moore Pittman. As a young boy Melvin loved to hunt and play baseball. In later years he loved hunting and fishing. He was a avid hunter and fisherman. He loved the Alabama Crimson Tide. He was preceded in death by is parents, a sister: Betty Pittman Beall, nieces: Bridgett Whitt and Debra Gipson and
granddaddy, John “Papa” Moore.
He leaves behind two brothers, John B.( Margie) Pittman of Muscle Shoals, AL and Walter “Shorty” Pittman of Elkmont, AL ,a sister: Lurleen Tetreault of Montgomery, AL a number of nieces and nephews and many friends.
Graveside services will be at 3:30 PM on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Ardmore, Alabama with Bro.Ted Vafeas officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama.
Pallbearers will be Doug Pittman, Danny Robertson, Larry Black, Richard Green, June Hodges and Mike McGuire.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors and nurses in the ICU #2 and the 6th floor at Huntsville Hospital. An special thanks to Dr. Ross Hunter.
