Melinda Jane Woodfin Rust (MJ3)
December 20, 1952 – July 27, 2025
As we say our good-bye’s, we must remember, we will all be together again.

Melinda was a loyal, loving wife, mother, grandma, sister, aunt, daughter, and friend.

Melinda was born in El Paso, Texas on December 20, 1952 to Joseph William Woodfin and Sarah Lillian
Baldwin Woodfin. She grew up in El Paso, then moved in with her sister and sister’s family in Huntsville,
Alabama to attend college at UAH. It was in college that she met, then married William “Bill” L. Rust.
They enjoyed 54 years together, raising three children, and seven grandchildren.

Melinda loved working with children, playing games and working puzzles, teaching reading and writing,
and being creative with them. She was a Girl Scout troop leader and a Cub Scout troop leader. She enjoyed planning family trips with lots of adventures on the way to our destinations. She enjoyed gardening , painting, and reading. She enjoyed her church Grace Lutheran and Bible studies with friends. She went on mission trips with her church to Canada twice and to Romania. She was always putting other
people, their feelings, their wishes, and their happiness before her own. She was a very kind and generous lady. We miss her so much already!

She was preceded in death by her father Joseph Woodfin, mother “Lillian” Woodfin, father-in-law Charles M Rust, mother-in-law Louise I Rust, brother David H Woodfin, sister Sarah W Congdon, brother-in-law Bobby Rust, brother-in-law Doug Rust, and youngest son Matthew W Rust (just about a year ago).

She is survived by her husband Bill Rust, sister Marilyn Sullivan (John), sister Madeline Bullock (Author), sister-in-law Martha Littleton (Dennis), sister-in-law Carol Zuhn (Tereasa Hill), sister-in-law Joyce Hardin, brother-in-law Charles Rust (Doris), daughter Shelley Fox, son Chris Rust (Janet), grandsons Colton and Grayson Fox, Tony and Dalton Lewter, granddaughters Alexis Evans and Allison Rust, Ashley
Burrell Crawford (Michael). She also has five greatgrandchildren (and another on the way), and nineteen nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements are at Berryhill Funeral Home. There will be visitation on Wednesday, July 30,2025 from 2pm to 4pm. A service will follow at 4pm. The family plan to bury her remains with her son at a later time.
