Mefford’s Jewelers located at 102 North Court Street in Florence has been around for 69 years, so why a ribbon cutting and grand opening celebration you ask? Russell Mefford and family have reopened the family business and wanted to share the news with everyone by having a celebration and a ribbon cutting onFriday, December 5th.
Here is what Mefford’s has to say about their reopening:
“Russell Mefford’s family has worked in a jewelry store in downtown
Florence since 1911. His grandparents, Pete and Julia Mefford,
opened their first store on Seminary Street in 1945. The business
later moved to 111 East Tennessee Street, and in 1980 his father,
O. T. Mefford, moved into their current location at 102 North Court
Street.
Russell and his wife Allison are honored to carry on a tradition of fine
jewelry and good conversation started by Pete and Julia more than
69 years ago.”
Of course the chamber was along to catch the event in pictures and we present them to you here:
