Maynard Shackelford – Obituary

marynardMaynard Shackelford 102, passed away Friday, August 05, 2016, at the Sanctuary Hospice House after a brief illness. She was born November 28, 1913 in Tennessee, the daughter of Travis and Minnie Lou Ollie Richards Hall. Mrs. Shackelford worked as a seamstress at Reed Manufacturing well into her 70’s. She then retired to become a Nanny to many children who loved her dearly. She was over 80 when she retired for the second time. Maynard was a founding member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Tupelo, and served her church with great dedication and devotion. Her family remembers her as a woman of great wisdom, strength and character who loved deeply and with authenticity.

Services will be 4 PM Sunday at Union Methodist Church in Plantersville with Bishop Matt Westcott officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

Maynard leaves behind 2 children, Bobbie Jean Humble of Memphis, and Lillie Errie of Plantersville; 6 grandchildren, Debra Ferrell (Roger) of Cordova, TN, J.W. Humble Jr. (Annette) of Millington, TN, Kay Humble of Cordova, Ronnie Shackelford of Plantersville, LaDonna Hand of Amory, and Mickey South of Plantersville; 6 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Edmond Shackelford; 2 sons, Billy and Harry Shackelford; 6 siblings, Milford Hall, Marba Golterman, John Merle Hall, Lucille Caldwell, John Dillard Hall, Jr. and Frankie Jean Mann.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Shackelford, J.W. Humble Jr., Mickey South and Roger Ferrell.

Visitation will be 2-4 PM Sunday at the church.
