Mayford A SpicerMayford A. Spicer, our beloved father, age 89, of Rock Island, TN, (Midway Community), died peacefully in his home on December 31, 2023.  He was born June 27, 1934, in Livingston, TN.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Coby D. and Anna Odell Maynard Spicer, brothers, Ronald Spicer and Vernon Spicer, and his beloved wife, Gloria Mae Spicer of 62 years.

He is survived by one son Joey (Angie) Spicer of Rock Island, TN, three daughters, Sue (Jack) Eaton of Centerton, AR; Kathryn (Ben) Kelly of Memphis, TN; Karen (Rodney) Roach of Sherman, TX; nine Grandchildren, Emily (Greg) Harrison, Charlotte (Tim) Evans, Wesley (Katy) Eaton, Coby (Jade) Spicer, Caleb (Taylor) Ranstrom, Kelsey (Jon) Kelly, Kyle Roach, BJ Kelly and Hannah Kelly; eleven Great-Grandchildren along with nieces, nephews and cousins,  sister Eulene (Leon) Robbins, brothers, Clarence (Pauline) Spicer, J. C. (Cheryl) Spicer, Joe (Arlene) Spicer, Mike (Patricia) Spicer, and Jack Spicer.

He was a retired dairy farmer with Spicer Brothers & Sons’ Dairy, and a member of Fall City Baptist Church.  His passions in life were farming and God’s Word, and he instilled the love of both in his children and grandchildren.  In his love of farming, he demonstrated to us the importance of persevering in a job well done, aspiring to live quietly, attending to our own matters, working with our hands (1 Thessalonians 4:11) and doing everything to the glory of God (1 Corinthians 10:31).  In his love of God’s Word, he passed on to us the love of the gospel and its truths, the church, and His people, and loving well our families and all that have come in our paths as we live unto the Lord to the best of our ability and the grace given us.  “A righteous man who walks in his integrity—How blessed are his children after him.”  Proverbs 20:7

The family extends special thanks to the staff at Gentiva Hospice for the wonderful care and support he received.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Gideon’s International Memorial Bible Program, Fall City Baptist Church, or Meals on Wheels.
