It is with great sadness that the family of Matthew Lawson Ebert, aged 23, of Athens, announces his passing on Monday, April 28th, 2025. Lawson was born on February 11th, 2002, in Columbus, Georgia, to Jonathan Mark and Staci Allfrey Ebert.
Lawson leaves behind a loving family, including his parents, Mark and Staci Ebert, and his sister, Mallory Langston Ebert. He is also survived by his grandparents, Donald Ebert, Tim & Dawn Hawkins, and John & Sandra Allfrey. Lawson was cherished by his aunts and uncles, Jason & Katy Riddle, John & Heather Crutcher, Howard Petty, and David Petty, as well as his cousins, Bailey Abernathy (Ryne), Abbie Lovell (Jacob), Meleah Crutcher, Caleb Crutcher, and Fox Lee Riddle.
Lawson is preceded in death by his uncle, Jason Ebert, and his grandparents, Fred & Mary Nell Ebert, Horace L. & Verna Mae Allfrey, Hershel & Sue Pugh, and Mary Elizabeth Carter.
Funeral services for Lawson will be held on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025, at 11:00 am at Elkton Road Baptist Church, with Toney Wales officiating. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 9:00 to 10:45 am. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery.
Lawson will be remembered for his kind spirit and the joy he brought to those around him. His kindness and warmth touched everyone he met, leaving a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to know him. While his time with us was far too brief, his spirit will continue to inspire and live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
