Carl Albert Burns JrCarl Albert Burns, Jr., lovingly known as Albert, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 27th, 2025, at his home, surrounded by family. Born on March 13th, 1953, in Birmingham, Alabama, Albert was the son of Carl Albert Burns, Sr. and Helen Cordle.

Albert’s life was a testament to love, dedication, and family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Kathy Burns, and three sons: Al Burns (Brooke), Matt Burns (Angela), and Jeremy Burns (Tiffany). His legacy is further carried on by his adoring grandchildren: Anna Beth, Destiny, Sam, Tenley, Aalivia, Cal, and Evey. Albert also leaves behind his sister, Linda Cooper (Van), and brother, Jimmy Cordle (Jill), as well as a large extended family of cousins, nieces, and nephews who will deeply miss him.

Albert is preceded in death by his dear mother, Helen Cordle, and his beloved grandmother, Frances Horne.

Albert worked during his life as an electrician and builder. He had a mind to understand how things were put together and strong, skillful hands. If something broke, he could fix it. He also enjoyed planting vegetables every spring with Kathy and throwing the ball with his sons.

Albert loved his family and enjoyed every moment with all of them. The last few years of his life were spent traveling with Kathy to gymnasiums and ballfields to watch grandkids play sports. Wearing his ABS green, he would cheer loudly and give the grandkids a big thumbs up when they looked at the bleachers. He would wait after each game to talk to the grandkids and tell them how proud he was of them. But if he had to leave to go to another ballfield, he and Kathy would always call to tell them, “we are proud of you and we love you!”

The greatest love of his life was Jesus Christ, and that influenced every other aspect of his life. His decisions as a husband, father, and friend were considered with a view of eternity. He worked with the Eastside church of Christ as an elder for 14 years. He was honored and grateful to be a part of such a wonderful congregation.

To honor Albert’s life, family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Albert are invited to a visitation on Thursday, May 1st, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 2nd, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery. Pallbearers are Al Burns, Matt Burns, Jeremy Burns, Sam Burns, Cal Burns, Van Cooper, Jeff Cooper and Mac Horne.
