Matthew Dale “Matt” Lawrence

Matthew Dale “Matt” Lawrence, age 41 of Haleyville, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2025 in Union Springs. He was born September 7, 1983 in Haleyville, Alabama to Steven and Paula Lawrence. Matt was a big sports fan, especially when it came to Alabama football. He was a generous, giving, and helpful man who loved his family. Matt was also an avid outdoorsman, where he loved spending time fishing. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 26, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Haleyville. Brother Joseph Desiderio will officiate. Matt is survived by his daughter, Lily Lawrence; mother, Paula Lawrence; stepdad, Mike Elkins; brother, Mark Lawrence; sister-in-law, Amber Lawrence; niece, Emma Lawrence; nephew, Eli Lawrence; special aunts, Patricia Oliver and Kathy Knight; cousins, Amy, Jamey, and Ricky; grandparents, Hank and Gail Gravitt; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Steven Lawrence; grandparents, V.C. and Eva Mae Lawrence, Jimmy Aderholt, and Albert and Francis Knox.
