Mary Virginia Borden Taylor
Mary Taylor, 93, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 21st, 2025.
Mary was born on April 12th, 1932, in Boston, MA, daughter of the late Parker and Lessye Borden. She received her bachelor’s degree in biology from Virginia Polytechnic Institute, where she was a cheerleader as well as one of the few women students on campus at that time. Mary received her nursing degree from Mississippi University for Women. She worked at various jobs throughout her life, including as a nurse at the Longest Student Health Center at Mississippi State University.
Mary was a member of the Starkville Church of Christ where she was a longtime teacher of the cradle roll class on Sunday mornings. Mary always loved spending time with babies and small children. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren, playing tennis, traveling, reading, crocheting and, in later life, working puzzles. Mary enjoyed learning new things and took several college classes at MSU just for fun, including computer and philosophy classes.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Fred Taylor. She is survived by sons Rick Taylor and John Taylor; daughters Jean Davis and Tacy Bonner (Richard); seven grandchildren: Ty Davis (Whitney), Gill Bonner (Amber), Parker Davis, Ian Manning (Julie), Shelby Gentry (Jay), Kendall Bonner and Tessa Taylor; one great-granddaughter: Lincoln Davis; five great-grandsons: Tucker Davis, Davis Gentry, and Connor, Oliver and Michael Manning; sister Jean Castenada and niece Kat RobinSun.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 on Sunday, April 27 at Welch Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 10:00 on Monday April 28 at Oddfellows Cemetery.
