Mary (Ted) Elizabeth Thompson, 81, of Tuscumbia, Ala, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, Sept. 9 2016. Her family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, September 11th at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. Her funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Jeff Newton and Brother Joe Stone officiating. Burial will be at Colbert Memorial Gardens.
Mary was born in 1935 in Franklin County, Ala., and has lived in Tuscumbia most of her life. Mary retired from South Central Bell in 1987. Shortly thereafter she began working at Valley Credit Union where she remained for 10 years.
Mary was a faithful member of Valdosta Baptist Church for many years. Her family ties and values were extremely strong as was her love for her pets.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Bill; her parents, Hubert and Mable Wood; two brothers, Bud Wood and Phillip Wood and two sisters, Marie Ford and Louise Wilson.
She is survived by two children, Rusty Thompson (Tanya) of Birmingham, and Jan Thompson-Floyd (Richard) of Tuscumbia; three grandsons Christopher Thompson and fiancée Brandi Robinson; Charlie Floyd (Anna), and Ben Floyd and fiancée Maryanne Fults; and beloved great grandchild Ellie Grace Floyd. She is also survived by one sister, Pat Wood Gerdes of Dearborn, Mich. and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Lynn Wilson, Tony Young, Craig Young, J.T. Fox, Matt Thompson, and Eric White.
