Mary Nell Jones, age 73, of Talladega, AL, went to her heavenly home Monday, February 17, 2025. She is preceded in death by her father, William (Ted) McCoy, her mother, Nellie Estell McCoy, and her Ex-husband and friend, Jimmy Jones. She is survived by her special friend: Randy Crabtree; Sons: Bobby Jones (Dianne) of Deatsville, AL and Mike Jones of Talladega, AL; Grandchildren: Robert Jones (Heidi) of Melbourne, FL, and Shawn Jones of Talladega, AL; Great grandchildren: Lucas and Nicholas Jones of Melbourne, FL; Siblings: Sue Barker (Larry) and Billy McCoy (Mary Ann); a special family friend/sister: Rhonda Stewart, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mary was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend who spent her life helping and caring for others. She retired from the Talladega Community Action Agency where she was the Chief Financial Officer. As a member of Southside Baptist Church, Mary served in the Children’s ministry and helped with Wednesday night suppers. Her church family was very important to her. She loved her Sunday School Ladies Class Bible Study for Life and the Joy Club. Mary also loved the beach, watching Auburn football, reading daily bible devotions with Randy, and spending time with her family and friends. Mary was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 1, 2025 from 10 -12 at Southside Baptist Church, 1101 Cherry St, Talladega, AL 35160 with Josh Henderson officiating. Visitation will start at 10. In lieu of flowers, Mary requested donations be made to Southside Baptist Church Youth Ministry, in her memory, and mailed to the church at 1101 Cherry Street, Talladega, AL 35160.
The family would like to thank Mary’s entire medical team & Coosa Valley Hospice for the knowledge and care they provided during her sickness. To the family and friends that called, prayed, sent cards and texts, thank you for your words of encouragement and sorrow. A special thank you to Sue Barker, June Boggs, Kim Shaw, Rhonda Stewart and Michelle Wells for the numerous hours each of you spent by Mary’s bedside praying and taking care of her. We love you all.
