Mary Lynn Mitchell was born in Morgan County, Alabama on January 29, 1949, to the late Rev. Tommie Mitchell, Sr., and Dorothy Orr Neil Mitchell. She entered eternal rest on August 23, 2025 at Decatur Morgan Hospital.
Mary Lynn leaves to cherish her memories: her loving companion: Honea Garret; six children: Deborah (Anthony) Coleman, Gilbert (Demetrica) Mitchell, Quentin Taylor, James (Amanda) Sharpley, Tenisha Sharpley, Martez Sharpley; two sisters: Mary (Benny) Foster, Huntsville, Alabama and Frances (Billy, Jr.) Jones of Decatur, Alabama; one sister-in-law: Rhodella Mitchell of Decatur, Alabama; one brother: James Chides of Huntsville, Alabama; thirteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
