Mary Lee Rudd passed away quietly and peacefully in the early morning hours of Saturday, June 7, 2025, when she left this world to be with our Lord. Mary was born on September 3, 1929, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. She graduated from the University of Manitoba and received a master’s degree in library science from the University of Michigan.

While working in one of the engineering libraries at Purdue University, she met and married Ed Rudd, an engineering graduate student serving in the U.S. Army. They had one daughter, Martha Lee Rudd. Mary took on the toughest job in the U.S. Army – the Army wife. She handled the assignment like a true warrior. She volunteered, participated and led in women’s clubs the world over. She had a life-long passion for bingo, bridge, and Tripoli.

Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edwin A. Rudd; her brother, Robert Hugh Lee, of Winnipeg, Manitoba; and her father and mother, John Daniel Joseph Lee and Helen MacLachlan Lee of Victoria, British Columbia.

She is survived by her daughter, Martha Lee Rudd, of Birmingham, AL; her nephew, Robert John Lee of Edmonton, Alberta; and her niece, Kristin Weber Schulz of White City, OR; along with other family and friends.

Mary’s daughter, Martha, would like to thank all those who cared for Mary at Redstone Village, especially those in Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing, as well as Family Hospice Care.

A graveside service is planned for Friday, June 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Maple Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Benjamin Corpening officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Huntsville-Madison County Library Foundation or the charity of your choice.
