Mary Jane Smith Ladd Mary Jane Smith Ladd, 71, of Albertville, Alabama, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026, at Marshall Medical Center South with her loved ones by her side.

Mary was born on October 8, 1954, in Alabama to the late James Harold Smith and Verna Roxie Williamson Smith. She was a 1972 graduate of Sardis High School. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, proud grandmother, sister, and friend. Mary found her greatest joy in the time she spent with her family, reading, quilting and cross-stitching.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, Ernest Edwin Ladd; her daughters, Rachel (Chris) Vaccaro and Allison (Emily) Scanlan; granddaughter, Adrienne Hosemann; brother, Ronnie “Shorty” Smith; and a host of beloved brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Derek Edwin Ladd; her parents, James Harold Smith and Verna Roxie Williamson Smith; and her siblings, Annette “Sissy” Warren and Jimmy “Buck” Smith.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 28, 2026, from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Adams Brown Service Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 29, 2026, in the Adams Brown Service Chapel with burial to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Boaz, Alabama. Pallbearers will be Eric Curtis, Terry Hughes, Ryan Ladd, Chris Vaccaro, Tyler Smith, and Brenton Smith.
