Mary Jane Rhodes, 78, of Florence, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2025, at North Alabama Medical Center. She was retired from Tennessee Valley Authority as Records Manager. She was a board member of DHR in Florence and treasurer of Central Heights Community Center. Mary Jane was a member of St. James Methodist Church and was a member of the United Methodist Women’s Association.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 13, 2025, from 12-3 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 3:00 p.m. Interment will be at Pettus Cemetery, Lexington, AL. Officiating will be Dr. John Yeates.
Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Arvel and Geneva Joiner; and her husband, Charles Rhodes.
She is survived by her son, Greg Rhodes (Suzanne); sister, Sara Hammond; grandchildren, Charley Rhodes and Hailey Rhodes; and niece, Molly Matlock (Trey).
Mary Jane was a light to all who knew her. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, but her main joy was her role as “Grandmommy”. She rarely missed a game, match or event that involved Charley and Hailey. She was their biggest supporter.
The family wants to say a special thanks to Dr. Felix Morris and Dr. John Barron.
Pallbearers will be Blake Young, Clay Fowler, Trey Matlock, Mickey Thompson, Todd Sullivan, and Michael Thorne.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Horizons Sunday School Class at St. James Methodist Church or to a charity of your choice.
