Ms. Mary Ann Bass, age 92, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2025, in Appling, Georgia. Mary Ann grew up in Blount County, Alabama but was a resident of Arab for over fifty-seven years. Her parents were Erna J. Bailey and Mary Elizabeth Herring Bailey. She married Alva Wilson Bass on January 19th 1957 at Hunter Street Baptist Church. Mary Ann attended both the Arab First Baptist Churchand Lebanon United Methodist Church in Oneonta. She had previously worked as a teller at New York Life in Birmingham.

Mary Ann was a self-taught artist and successful investor, but dedicated most of her life to her family as a loving wife and mother, always ready to take her girls to tennis matches, cheerleading practice, ballet and piano lessons and recitals.

Family members left behind to cherish their memories of Mary Ann include: daughters, Melanie Bass Pollard (Jake), Melissa Adele Bass and Carrie Lee Bass; grandchildren, Brent Justin Griffin (Cassandra) and Natalie Saint-Martin; and sisters in law, Jane Graham Bailey and Faye Bailey.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Erna and Mary Bailey; husband, Alva W. Bass; brothers, Andyle Bailey, Jim Bailey and Jay Allen Bailey; sisters, Wadeene Reeves and Betty Killian.

Services for Mary Ann will be graveside at Lebanon United Methodist Church Cemetery (925 County Hwy 42, Oneonta, AL 35121). The service will be Saturday, April 19, 2025 at 3:00pm. with Brother Randy L. Blakely officiating. Family members will be graveside at 2:00 pm to greet friends and guests for a short visitation. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel entrusted with arrangements.
