Mary Alice Williamson – Obituary

Mary Alice Williamson, age 72 of Houston, entered into rest on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on March 19, 1940, in Houston, Alabama to Earnest “Bear” and Mary Etta Stewart Bailey. She attended school at the old Houston School. Mrs. Williamson dedicated her life to taking care of her husband and her family. She enjoyed gardening, quilting and most of all, spending time with her family. She was lovingly known as Hopseen and Bug.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 23, 2012 from 6-9pm at Houston Baptist Church in Houston, Alabama, where funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 2pm. She will lie in state from 1-2pm. Burial will be in Burdick Cemetery at Houston. Brother Donnie Carroll and Brother Jerry Baker will officiate.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Robert Williamson; sons, Dale Williamson, Bill Williamson; daughter, Ann Smith and her husband Tommy; brother, Winford Bailey and his wife Betty; sister, Mary Etta Rivers. She was Granny to four grandchildren, Angela Martin, Melissa Jacques, Derek Williamson, Mariah Williamson; 3 great grandchildren, Christopher Gravitt, Emily Jacques, Andrea Jacques; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earnest “Bear” and Mary Bailey; brothers, Buddy Bailey, Wilford Bailey; sisters, Dorthy Box and Rose Shubert.
