Marty Neal McNatt, just 60 years old, passed unexpectedly on August 5, 2023, from a heart condition. His family is both devastated and shocked by this sudden loss of such a large piece of our lives.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday, August 7th, at Morrison Funeral Home of Tuscumbia. He will lie-in-state at Jonesboro Baptist Church of Russellville from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 8th, with service to immediately follow with Bro. Kent Walker to officiate. Burial will take place at Jonesboro Baptist Church Cemetery.
Marty was born January 30, 1963, and lived in Russellville, Alabama.
Marty is preceded in death by his loving parents, O’Neal and Lavern McNatt, who cherished and spoiled their boy. Their reunion in heaven must have been a glorious sight. We take comfort in knowing that Marty is now at peace and surrounded by his parents, beloved in-laws – Marvin and Virginia Jones, and sweet angel grandbaby, Tucker Ryan Bevis.
In 1984, he met the love of his life, his rock, and earthly angel, Tammy. They wed in 1986 and later welcomed two beautiful daughters Paige Taylor (husband Ryan) and Brooke Bevis (husband Hunter). His heart grew even bigger with the birth of each grandchild, Amelia and Maddox Taylor, Braylee, Owen, and Adalynn Bevis. His relationship with his sister, Barbie Brooks, was cherished. Marty was forever proud of his children and grandchildren, nieces, nephew and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He will be remembered by all for his big heart he shared with his friends and family. He truly loved each of them-and if you knew him, you knew it. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, who created a nickname for everyone. Marty was authentically and wholeheartedly there for those in his life.
Marty was strong-willed and stubborn at times, but he also had an enormous heart. He was clever and full to the brim with knowledge gained throughout all of his life experiences –he could fix or build anything. He was an avid outdoorsman and was happiest when he was sitting in the woods hunting or out on his boat. He had a deep love of all animals, especially his beloved dog, Winkie. Marty and Tammy enjoyed camping as much as possible each year at Cedar Creek Campground.
Pallbearers include Ryan Taylor, Hunter Bevis, Josh Brooks, Nick Black, John Smith, Juan Lopez, Bo Hovater, Colton Hovater, and Brady Hovater.
God decided that he needed Marty and therefore he passed away without warning. His death has left his family, friends, and all that had the blessing of knowing him in absolute turmoil. Our hearts are so broken; he will be forever missed, but his legacy will carry on forever by the imprint he left on our hearts.
