Martharene Luke Chandler Smith, 78, went home to be with her Jesus on Wednesday. She was preceded in death by her father, Harvey Lee Luke, her mother, Margie Rawson Luke, and her brother, Harvey Lee Luke, Jr.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, James Taylor Smith; sister, Chris Luke Ellis (Jimmy); son, William Allen Chandler, Jr. (Hayes), daughter, Angela Elizabeth Chandler Brooks, step-daughter, Karen Smith Duffey (Joe); grandchildren, Christopher Allen Chandler Brooks, Joseph Johnson Duffey III (Anna), John Taylor Duffey (Cara), Elijah Luke Chandler (Cara), Katherine Elizabeth Duffey, James Rawson Brooks, and Anna Virginia Chandler; four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 2, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 11 in the chapel with the Rev. Will Spink officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
