Dorothy E. Blankenship – Obituary

Dorothy E. Blankenship passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by loved ones, on March 30, 2016. She was a member of Wood Avenue Church of Christ, and a devoted homemaker. Dorothy enjoyed gardening and backyard bird-watching; but most of all she loved her “young’ns”.

Dorothy was born October 12, 1931, the oldest child and only daughter of six.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Austin and Sula Lee McCraig, and her brothers, Chester, Hollis, and Jerry.

Survived by her loving husband whom she married on September 04, 1949, Brazie Blankenship; brothers, Wayne and Gary McCaig; daughters, Linda B. Price (Carlos), Edith B. Allen (Paul), and Donna G. Sullivan (Mike).They will miss her a lot, and so will grandchildren, Amanda, Tiffany (Mark), Jeremy, Leigh Ann, and the great grandchildren, Jamie, Jeffery, Shelby, and Steven.

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 02, 2016 at Colbert Memorial Chapel from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., with service to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens. Brother Kenneth Davis will be officiating.

Memorials may be made in the form of flowers, or as donations to the Wood Avenue Church of Christ, or Audubon Society. Special thanks to the full staff of Gentiva Hospice for the excellent care given to our loved one.
