Martha Wright ScottMartha Wright Scott, 90 of Athens passed away on March 14th, 2026 at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She was born on March 23, 1935 in West Limestone to John Gibson Wright and Vela Brooks Wright. She was the youngest of eight children. She was preceded in death by her sisters: Hansel Morell and Obinetta Solomon and her brothers: Sam, Adron, Reford, W.G. and Edsel Wright.

She was a graduate of West Limestone High School. In 1951, she married her husband of 63 years Dalton Scott. She would become a nurse working at Jacksons Hospital in Lester. In the late 1960s she went to work at IBM in Huntsville where she retired as a Safety and Security Director. She ended her work career as office manager at the Dialysis Center in Athens.

Martha loved her family. She is preceded in death by her husband Dalton and her son-in- law Jeff Hill. She is survived by her daughter, Mona Hill, her granddaughter, Savannah Hill Clark (Dustin), and two beloved great-grandchildren Mallie McKenzie Clark and Samuel Scott Clark, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Scott was a member of Elkton Road Baptist Church. She became a Christian as a very young girl and loved the Lord with all her heart. She loved people and it was her desire to see everyone come into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

The service will be March 19, 2026 at 12pm at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. Visitation will be 10am-11:45am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Limestone Memorial Garden. Officiated by Pastor Toney Wales. Pallbearers will be Stanley Hill, Kenneth Odell, Morgan Cooper, Ken LeSueur, Dustin Clark and John Allfrey. Honorary Pallbearers are Ruddie Putman, Joey Thompson and Jeff McMunn.

In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to Elkton Road Baptist Church or The Women’s Resource Center of Athens. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Dr. Nauman Qureshi and Nurse Practitioner April Ruf Haney.
