Mrs. Knight passed away Monday May 16, 2022 at the Lineville Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Cherokee County, and graduated from Spring Garden High School, then married William T. Knight and moved to Clay County where she worked for Higgins Mfg. for several years in quality control. Mrs. Knight enjoyed her time with her dog “Spanky”, working in the garden and with her flowers, knitting, crocheting, looking at pictures and reminiscing and especially solving puzzles, like Wheel of Fortune, Jigsaw, and playing “Words with Friends” on Facebook. Imogene was an active member of Lineville Baptist Church and the Faithful and Joyful Sunday School Class.
She is survived by her daughter, Jean Reid (Steve) of Lineville, her son, Alan Knight of Cary, North Carolina, her granddaughter Traci Hayes (Shayne) of Milwaukee, Oregon, her grandson Travis Reid of Douglasville, Ga., her 3 great grandchildren William Austin Hayes, Collin Patrick Hayes, and Hayes Wolfe Reid, and a sister, Peggy Ann McCord of Piedmont.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Eugene Thurston Welsh and Nelley Norton Welsh, her husband of 59 years, William T. Knight, and 4 brothers, Roland, Dave, Marion and Luke Welsh and 3 sisters, Essie Mae Lockridge, Mazie Webb, and Sarah Jane Sawyer.
Pallbearers will be David Williams, Larry Burton, Keith Warren, James Lindsey, Mark Griffin, Kenny Whitehead, and Larry Robertson.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville from 1:00 P.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M.
Family will receive flowers or memorial contributions may be made to the Lineville Baptist Church.
