Martha Dixie Holladay, 81, of Helena, died after a short illness Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at home with her husband by her side. Dixie was born on November 10, 1933, in Lawrence County. She graduated from Danville High School in 1951 and married Glenn R. Holladay in 1952. They lived in the Birmingham area for most of those years.
Dixie was devoted to serving her family and church. She loved being a homemaker, decorating and cooking. Her great joy was being a grandmother.
Dixie was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Cloie Smith; her brother, Hiluard “Joe” Smith; her sister, Eloise Ferguson; and her daughter, Jennifer Holladay.
She is survived by her husband, Glenn R. Holladay; son, Philip (Lisa) Holladay of Fairhope; grandchildren, Elyse Holladay of Austin, TX, and Graham Holladay of Birmingham; sister, Maxine (Logan) Jolley of Hoover; brother, Bobby (Linda) Smith of Moulton; niece, Sharon Smith of Pelham; ten nephews and nine other nieces.

The family will receive friends Saturday, February 14, 2015, from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at Valhalla Funeral Home, 5317 Bessemer Super Highway, Midfield, AL 35228. A Graveside service will follow at 11 a.m. at Valhalla Cemetery with Mr. Dave Dobson officiating
