Clifford Phillips Ledbetter, 96, of Decatur, died Wednesday, February 11, 2015.
His visitation will be Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home. His funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Brother Tim Sutton is officiating.
Mr. Ledbetter is preceded in death by his son, Jerry Mac Ledbetter; and daughters, Marlene Stricklin and Phyliss J. Dodson.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Jeanette Payne Ledbetter of Soddy Daisy, TN; two sons, Clifford H. Ledbetter (Louise) of Soddy Daisy, TN and Larry A. Ledbetter of Decatur; one sister, Annie Lee Reagin of Decatur; son-in-law, Jim Dodson of Cullman; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; two nephews and four great- nephews and nieces.
Mr. Ledbetter was in the United States Army from 1938 until 1942 and was stationed at Pearl Harbor when it was bombed, which led to the entry of the United States into World War II. He further served his country in the United States Marine Corp where he achieved the rank of corporal and fought in the Marshall Islands, Panama and Guam. He was the champion boxer from his company in the Marines, an instrument pipefitter in numerous locations in the U.S., was an avid roller skater, and skated until he was 88 years old. He loved bow hunting, and loved life.

my Name is James Adair…..I’m the Son of Eugene Ledbetter! Clifford Phillips was my Great-grandfather that I never Got to know! I hope that He is at Peace now with Jesus!!!
