Marilyn Annette Kilgore Marilyn Annette Warren Kilgore, April 7, 1946 – February 1, 2025
Marilyn Annette Warren Kilgore has made it home. After 78 years of loving fiercely, praying without ceasing, and filling every room she entered with warmth, she is now walking the streets of gold, reunited with her babies, singing the hymns she loved so much in the presence of the One she sang them for.
She leaves behind the love of her life, Rev. Spencer Kilgore, her husband of 64 years, and a family that she poured her whole heart into: her grandchildren—Megan (Javier) Manzano, Logan Kilgore, Autumn Partridge, Amber (Chayah) Hodge, and Alesha Sions—and her great-grandchildren, who were her absolute joy: Eleanor Manzano, Lucas Manzano, Lilly Kilgore, Amelia Partridge, Isaiyah Hodge, Elijah Hodge, Miyah Hodge, and Noah Kilgore. She is also survived by her sisters, Linda Brewer and Joyce Maynor; her special niece, Crystal (Nathan) Bolt; and a whole host of nieces, nephews, and beloved extended family. Her lifelong friend, Mary Ledbetter, who lived and walked beside her in this life.
She is now held in the arms of those she longed for most—her children, Melinda Sions, Eugene Kilgore, and Anthony Kilgore; her grandbaby, Miranda Bowman; her sisters, Helen Kilgore, Betty Warren, and Bobbie Long; and her parents, Claude and Hattie Lou Warren.
Marilyn was a woman who lived her faith. She didn’t just pray; she believed. She didn’t just sing; she testified. She was a firm believer that “the God of the mountain is still God in the valley” and no matter how hard the road, she never wavered. She raised children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with a heart so full it overflowed. Her hands made the best from-scratch buttermilk biscuits you ever tasted, almost daily, because food was love, and love was everything. Her voice carried through church pews and kitchen walls, filling every space with her favorite hymns:
“Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!”
That was her testimony—assurance, unwavering and true. And now, she is standing in that glory she sang about, fully healed, fully whole, fully home.
She knew what mattered: faith, family, and making sure the people you love knew they were loved. And she did that. Oh, how she did that. Nothing made her prouder than her “fine family,” and she made sure every single one of them knew it.
If her life was a song, it would be this:
“There’s a roof up above me, I have a good place to sleep, There’s food on my table and shoes on my feet. You gave me Your love, Lord, and a fine family. Thank You, Lord, for Your blessings on me.”She sang it. She lived it. And now, at last, she is home.
Her Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at Albertville Memorial Chapel with burial to follow at New Life Christian Center Cemetery. Pastor Lewis Smith will be officiating. Friends can visit from 10 until service time on Wednesday.
Arrangements are entrusted to Albertville Memorial Chapel
