Mrs. Marie Kathryn Whitten Lindsey, age 102, of Lawrenceburg, died July 13, 2026 at The Summit Senior Living in Lawrenceburg surrounded by loving family and a dedicated care team. Marie was born to the late Willie Elexander Whitten and Lea Ola Trapp Whitten on March 10, 1924, in a house that still stands on the corner of West Scott and W. Garner streets.
Marie is preceded in death by husband of 52 years, James Early Lindsey; their beloved son, Mark Whitten Lindsey; hubands, Robert Bernard Holthouse and William Thomas Courtright; sister Geraldine “Gerry” Whitten Grisham Billingsley; and countless friends and other relatives.
Marie is survived by son, James Hoyle Lindsey (Mary Nell); two daughters, Carole Marie Lindsey Logue (Bobby) and Kathryn Lanette Lindsey Hayes (Bruce), seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren – all who claim to be her favorite because she made them feel that way.
Marie served as church secretary for Coleman Memorial United Methodist Church for 25 years. She was also an artist producing works that featured her favorite places and faces and made all who were pictured feel loved. Besides the family and friends who Marie cherished and made sure they knew it, she cared for extended family, neighbors, church members, and anyone who needed a nurturer. Marie is the source of very fond memories and loving support for many when they needed it most.
Memories, stories, laughs, and lessons learned from Marie will live on for generations.
