Margie Lennette Scott Conner Roberts On Sunday, July 12, 2020, Margie Lennette Scott Conner Roberts, loving mother of five children, three stepchildren, sixteen grandchildren, and twenty-two great grandchildren, passed away peacefully at the age of 95.

Margie was born in Folkston, Georgia to Thomas Arnold Scott and Mary Effie McQueen Scott. In 1943 she married her high school sweetheart, James F. Conner, father of their five children. She later married Neal E. Roberts in 1975, adding three grown stepchildren to her life.

Women like Margie with the kindest and gentlest of hearts never die; her love will live on and touch us every time we think of her, or smell her favorite flower, or see her favorite tree. Margie’s love will live on each time we see a smiling face or see two strangers saying hello. She wanted to understand you, accept you, forgive you, or love you. She was forgiving before she knew your transgressions, loving before she knew your heart and compassionate before she knew your faults. This is what made her Margie, the most beautiful woman to all that crossed paths throughout her long rich life. She was like the ocean’s tide, rising in our darkest hours and there to meet us when we awakened, receding so that we could walk again. Margie was our rock; our sweet, kind, loving, sassy, feisty rock. We must live our lives to the fullest to honor her memory and remember that we will forever be blessed as she watches over us.

Margie was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Arnold Scott, Sr., her mother, Mary Effie McQueen Scott, her brother, Thomas Arnold Scott, Jr., her second husband, Neal E. Roberts, her first husband, James F. Conner, and her sister-in-law, Shirley D. Scott. She is survived by her five children, Patrick Rory Conner, Pamela Shawn Conner Mack, Timothy James Conner, Susan Lynnette Conner Pline, and Steven Scott Conner; her three step-children, Noel R. McAllister, Gary Roberts, and Jeff Roberts; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A private family service will be held at St. Thomas Episcopal Church where her cremated remains will be entombed in their courtyard columbarium. Her Celebration of Life has been postponed due to current restrictions limiting large gatherings.

In lieu of flowers Margie requested donations be sent to St. Thomas Episcopal Church or Camp McDowell.
