Peggy was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Raymond C. “Ray” Hase, Jr., her parents, Tripp M. and Margaret La Pierre Roberts, and her twin sister, Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Roberts.

Known for her faith, love of family, and service to her church, Peggy made a lasting impact on each and will be remembered for her warmth, gift of hospitality, and care and compassion for others.

Born January 13, 1931, in Maplewood, MO, Peggy’s family soon moved to Kirkwood, MO. While in junior high, she met Ray as they attended the same schools and church. It was during these early years that Peggy began a lifelong love for music and developed her piano and organ skills which have blessed many through the years as she accompanied in churches, assisted living and nursing homes, and with many choirs. She attended Park College in Kansas City, MO, and completed her bachelor’s studies at the Central Institute for the Deaf associated with Washington University, St. Louis, MO.

Ray and Peggy married in June 1953 and moved to New Jersey where she taught at a school for the hearing impaired. The couple moved to Huntsville in 1955 where Peggy devoted her life to raising a family and supporting Ray in his career. In 1957, she and Ray became charter members of Covenant Presbyterian Church, a place where they worshipped and served faithfully until their deaths. Peggy was privileged to serve as an Elder, to be on various committees, and especially to serve as a Stephen’s Minister. Her love for children was evidenced through many years of teaching, and later directing, the Covenant Weekday Preschool.

Peggy was an active member of P.E.O., an organization focused on providing educational opportunities for female students worldwide. She served in various capacities at the local, state and national levels and found in this organization the closest of friends and a deep, abiding sisterhood. She cherished the time spent meeting with this group and the relationships which developed.

Peggy’s greatest joy was found in her family. She loved hosting family events and created a warm and caring home where everyone wanted to be. She celebrated the big and small things of life and always went out of her way to make everyone in her family and circle of influence feel loved and special. While she and Ray enjoyed traveling the world, they most loved the time in their home on Teakwood Drive hosting family and friends.

A memorial service honoring Peggy will be held at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 301 Drake Avenue, on Saturday, September 22, at 10:00 a.m. The family will receive guests following the service.

The family suggests memorials in Peggy’s honor be made to the Covenant Weekday Preschool, Presbyterian Children’s Home, Second Mile Ministry, or P.E.O.
