Margaret Oldham Shelton, formerly of Florence, Alabama, died in a LaFayette, Georgia nursing home on August 28.2018. She was 96 years old. She was born in Adamsville, Tennessee on August 12, 1922 to James Malcolm and Gertrude Droke Oldham. Margaret was a longtime member of Central Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and worked in the children’s department tending the babies.
She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and four sisters, her husband, Warren Leo Shelton and her daughter, Janis Elaine Brock. A longtime resident of Florence, she is survived by a son, Phillip Wayne Shelton (Jane); granddaughters, Margaret Forester of LaFayette, Georgia, Julia Shelton Beckwith of Athens, Georgia and four great-grandchildren, Jessica Forester of Arlington, Texas, Shelton Forester, Cecilia and Charles Forester of LaFayette, Georgia.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 30, 2018 from 1 to 2 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park.
